ENGLISH (Task 2 Group)

 Choose five important places / buildings in Terrassa and write a tourist description of them. Add a picture of each place followed by its description.

MASIA FREIXA

La Masia Freixa, one of the most emblematic and peculiar buildings in the city, was born when Josep Freixa decided to transform his factory into a family residence. For this, he entrusted the work to the architect Lluís Muncunill. In 2017, the roof was restored, recovering the original image from the early nineteenth century.

CASA ALEGRE DE SAGRERA 

The Casa Alegre de Sagrera was built at the beginning of the 19th century. Almost a century later, in 1911, an important reform was carried out that turned the building into a model of bourgeois industrial housing in Tarragona of the modernist era. Since 1973, it has assumed museum functions as one of the sections of the Terrassa Museum.

INDEPENDENCE MARKET

 

The Mercat de la Independència was inaugurated on November 14, 1908. Designed by municipal architects Antoni Pascual and Melcior Vinyals, it was an innovative building due to its iron structure, the largest in the city. And it is that at that time, iron was used as a decorative element.  

 

VAPOR AYMERICH, AMAT I JOVER, HEADQUARTERS OF THE mNACTEC

 

The modernist Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover factory is one of the best examples of modernist industrial architecture in Catalonia. It was designed in 1906 by the architect Lluís Muncunill and is currently the headquarters of the Museu Nacional de la Ciència i la Tècnica de Catalunya

CASTELL DE CARTOIXA

Castle of Vall Paradís is an old building located in the Catalan town of Tarrasa, near the Vallparadís stream and park. Since 1959 it has been the main section of the six that make up the Museum of Tarrasa. In 1944, the complex was declared a Historic Artistic Monument.
